About Adventure Buddy: a letter from Winkle
Hello friend,
My name is Winkle, and I’m really glad you found your way here.
I wanted to tell you a little about myself, and why I decided to create Adventure Buddy.
I’ve loved World of Warcraft for a long time. There’s just something special about getting lost in a world full of adventure, stumbling across new places, finding that perfect piece of gear, or finally finishing a quest that’s been giving you trouble.
But here’s something you should know about me.
I’ve spent most of my time in WoW playing alone.
I’m a pretty shy guy, to be honest. And I know, I know… “Just make friends!” Haha. Believe me, I get it. But for some of us, that’s easier said than done.
Don’t get me wrong, I love playing solo. I love exploring at my own pace, taking my time, and figuring things out for myself.
But sometimes, I wish I had someone to share the adventure with.
Someone to tell about that awesome item I just found. Someone to ask whether I’m building my character the right way. Or even just someone to talk to while I’m wandering around Azeroth.
And one day, I started thinking…
“What if I could make something like that?”
Not another guide to read through. Not something that tells me exactly how I should play.
Just a little companion that knows something about my character, answers my questions, and is there when I feel like chatting about the game.
That little thought turned into a project. And after a whole lot of experimenting, learning, and probably more late nights than I’d like to admit, Adventure Buddy started coming to life.
The idea is pretty simple. A small addon helps your desktop companion understand the character you’re playing. From there, you can ask questions, get advice, learn about the world, or just talk about your adventures.
But there’s something I want to make really clear.
Adventure Buddy is meant to enhance your adventure, never replace it.
I don’t want it playing the game for you. I don’t want it taking away the excitement of discovering something on your own. And I certainly don’t want it replacing the real friendships that make WoW so special.
I just want it to be another little piece of the experience.
Maybe you’re shy like me. Maybe you love playing alone. Maybe you’re completely new to WoW and have a million questions. Or maybe you’ve been playing forever and just want someone to bounce ideas off of.
Whatever brought you here, I hope you find something you enjoy.
I’m just one guy who loves this game and had an idea. I’m still learning, still building, and still figuring things out as I go. Adventure Buddy might not be perfect, but I’m putting a lot of heart into it.
And if you’ve made it this far, thank you. Seriously.
It means a lot that you’re here.
I hope Adventure Buddy can make your time in Azeroth just a little more enjoyable, and maybe a little less lonely.
After all, even the greatest adventures are better with a buddy.
I’ll see you out there, friend.
